PSAA Journals: Housekeys, not Handcuffs

B&B Print Source, in partnership with Portland Street Art Alliance, created journals for this 2023 collaborative community project. Each journal shares different stories and visuals of eight unique installations around the Portland Metro area created by Northwest outdoor artists. Learn more on our blog

Read more: Housekeys not Handcuffs

Housekeys, Not Handcuffs is an advocacy mural in support of our houseless neighbors who often get pushed aside and overlooked. The mural was painted in partnership with local homeless residents, Street Roots, and a team of local artists.

This was a special project, in that PSAA provided pro-bono volunteer management
services, and worked with a local community team to fundraise and secure a budget for artist stipends and paint supplies.

The mural was designed and painted by a team of four local muralists, including Jade Sturms and Maddo, and co-sponsored by its business/canvas, the Tao of Tea. It is designed in a style similar to other Sunnyside Neighborhood murals PSAA has assisted with, including the Keep on the Sunnyside Mural (SE 30th & Belmont) and the mural at the historic F. M. Knight Building (3300 SE Belmont St), making it the perfect addition to the neighborhood’s art collection.
