It’s December already?!?! This year has been a fast one and we are so thrilled that we had the opportunity to share twelve local area arts and culture organizations with you throughout the year. A special thank you to our partner, Artslandia – this was such a fun project! Last but not least, we bring you the Portland Cello Project.
We are partnering with the Native Arts and Culture Foundation for our 2024 calendar to support their mission to advance equity and cultural knowledge, focusing on the power of arts and collaboration to strengthen Native communities and promote positive social change with American Indian, Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native peoples. PORTLAND CELLO PROJECT | B&B CALENDAR DECEMBER FEATURED ORGANIZATION
In the fall of 2006, a group of nine cellists got on stage at Portland’s Doug Fir Lounge to perform western classical music in an informal setting. By 2009 their group had evolved into a nationally-recognized performing, recording, and educational group with a revolving cast of cellists, appearing everywhere from punk rock clubs to symphony halls, from street parties to exclusive private events.
The group continues to grow under the artistic direction of Douglas Jenkins, performing surprising music in unexpected venues with unusual collaborators—just how they like it.
Their upcoming schedule has shows all over the PNW region as they do their part to spread some holiday cheer. Get tickets to their Under the Mistletoe performance at The Reser Auditorium in Beaverton for Dec 22-23.
The December calendar features Portland Cello Project’s Purple Reign at Revolution Hall. Get a glimpse of this performance by watching the footage and audio from the performance.
